Municipal Alliance

Events

The Municipal Alliance sponsors a variety of "Natural High Events" for children and families throughout the year. Events include movie nights, HalloWharton, an annual Carnival, National Night Out with the Wharton Police Department, and a run. They also sponsor trips to various locations for Wharton Seniors and trips for middle school/high school students. These events offer wonderful opportunities for the community to come together in a drug/alcohol free setting.

The Alliance helps to sponsor LEAD (formerly DARE), holds programs on current issues including underage drinking, vaping, drug abuse, cyber bullying, and gangs for both students and parents. They also offer Narcan training for school staff and residents throughout the year. They offer training for liquor stores and restaurants regarding ID checks and over serving. They participate annually in Knock Out Opioid Day with information going out to our doctors, dentists and pharmacies regarding prescription abuse. They offer information to seniors regarding prescription safety and disposal.

The Alliance also supports "Project Graduation" for Morris Hills High School students. This event is a drug and alcohol-free night for seniors who wish to celebrate sober.

Prescription Drop Box

A prescription drop box is located at the Wharton Police Station, 10 Robert St. Please drop off any unused prescriptions for disposal. No syringes may be dropped off in this drop box. For safe disposal of syringes, visit the Board of Health webpage.

School Programs

The Municipal Alliance provides funding for "Peer to Peer" and "Conflict Resolution" programs for all school age students. These programs are geared towards leadership, self-confidence, teamwork, and team building amongst their peers. During the school year the Alliance also offers drug/alcohol workshops for students.
