Lead Service Line Inventory Report


On July 22, 2021, the Governor signed legislation into law for mandatory lead service line replacement, “NJ Bill A5343/S3398”, P.L.2021, Ch.183. Under this new law, public community water systems are required to inventory and replace all known lead service lines and address all service lines of unknown materials in their service areas by July 22, 2031. Any property that is listed as having galvanized line has been sent letters via certifiedied mail prior to February 21st. Any property that is listed as having unknown pipe material will be receiving a letter asking for information about their lines in the next few months.

Wharton is a community of approximately 6,500 residents in the highlands of Morris County. Wharton is located between Routes 15, 46 and 80, stretching south from the main entrance of Picatinny Arsenal, a major army research and development center, to Route 46 abounded on the west by Roxbury Township and the east by Dover and Rockaway Township. The Borough is approximately 2.2 square miles.
