Summer Recreation

The Summer Recreation Program is from July 5th through August 11th for Wharton residents! Children aged 5 through going into 8th grade are eligible to participate for free in the Summer Recreation Program. Summer Recreation runs from 9 a.m.- Noon M-F at Robert Street Park.

Proof of Wharton residency is required.

You can get a registration form here or pick up one at Town Hall during regular business hours. You can bring completed forms and proof of residence to camp. 

Children can sign up for up to two paid off campus trips. Planned trips this year are 7/6 Turtle Back Zoo $10, 7/13 Aspen Ice $10, 7/20 Mini Golf $10, 7/27 Frog Falls at Picatinny $20, 8/3 Bowling $12. You may sign up for and pay for trips at the the first day of camp.

Free breakfast will be served each day for all particpants through the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. 

New this year following Summer Recreation there are free sports clinics hosted by Wharton & Morris Hills High School coaches during the following dates and times. Wharton children aged 5 through going into 8th grade are welcome to sign up to learn about a new sport or practice one they already play. Sign up sheets for the clinics are available at Summer Recreation.

July 10, 11 & 12 - Wharton Soccer will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm
 
July 10, 11, & 12- Morris Hills Softball will be at Robert Street at 12:30pm
 
July 17, 18 & 19 - Morris Hills Baseball will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm
 
July 17, 18 & 19 - Morris Hills Wrestling will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm
 
July 24, 25 & 26 - Morris Hills Girls Lacrosse will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm
 
July 24 & 26 Morris Hills Girls Basketball will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm
 
July 30th & August 1st - Jr. Knights Cheer Leading will be at Robert Street at 12:30 pm

Borough of Wharton

Wharton is a community of approximately 6,500 residents in the highlands of Morris County. Wharton is located between Routes 15, 46 and 80, stretching south from the main entrance of Picatinny Arsenal, a major army research and development center, to Route 46 abounded on the west by Roxbury Township and the east by Dover and Rockaway Township. The Borough is approximately 2.2 square miles.
